Personally I wash our eggs with soap and water immediately after I collect them from the girls. After they have dried they are assorted and dated for local markets and personal use.
It's a personal preference as I tend to be a little of a germ freak, especially for living in the country.
I know washing them takes off the "bloom" but I've been told that eggs from the grocery store (chemically washed/bleached) can last for over a year in a refrigerator! Since my flock's eggs are always sold out within 2 days of collection, I figure I'm not gonna sweat losing the precious egg bloom.
What do you think about washing and refrigeration of freshly collected farm eggs?
